Dr. Lam was born in a boat in international waters but calls California his home. He was raised in Monterey Park and obtained his Bachelors of Science degree in Psychobiology from the University of California at Los Angeles (GO BRUINS!). Dr. Lam then obtained his doctorate degree from the Southern California College of Optometry. Lastly, he then obtained a masters degree in business administration with a healthcare executive entrepreneurship emphasis at the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California at Irvine.
He has worked in Ophthalmology at the prestigious Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA and for Macy Eye Center at the Cedars-Sinai Hospital towers. He has proudly served the veterans of our military at the Veteran Affairs (VA) Hospital in Los Angeles. He previously was the Clinical Director for NVision Laser Eye Centers where he managed the surgical and medical care of patients getting LASIK, Cataracts surgery, Corneal Inlays, PRK, Intacs, ICL, PresbyLASIK, Blepharoplasty, Glaucoma, Dry Eye disorders and much more. When needed, Dr. Lam serves as a faculty Assistant Professor for the University Eye Care of Los Angeles, a subsidiary clinic of the Southern California College of Optometry at Ketchum University.
However, Dr. Lam's most proud moments are when he gives his time to provide charitable eye care. He has been on 4 International missions to Honduras, Panama, Cambodia and South Africa and 10 domestic missions to the population of Los Angeles (4x), Bakersfield (2x), San Diego (2x), Vista and Santa Ana through his affiliation with the One Sight organization. Dr. Lam has served as an expert examiner for the National Boards of Examinations in Optometry and was the 2016 President of the Asian American Optometric Society, the largest Optometric society in California.
For his work for Optometry, the community and for his patients, Dr. Lam was awarded the prestigious California Optometric Association's Young Optometrist of the Year award in 2012. An award bestowed upon select few Optometrists each year after a nomination process statewide.
He is excited and proud to call the community and the people of Corona and Ontario (and it's surrounding areas) his new family and he hopes to serve it well.
